Barrel Moving

Picture 4Teams race against each other, to get a barrel out of a big circle on the ground, without ever stepping into that circle. (Planning, group involvement, holistic vision)

Blind Football

Picture 6While being blindfolded, teams are to lay a lengthy rope in all types of shapes and sizes. (Communication, holistic vision)

Board Puzzles

Picture 7Taking you back a couple of years, to big wooden puzzle pieces. This time however, you do not have the big picture. Teams are to build a puzzle cut from wooden boards. The fact that there is no picture to relate to increases the difficulty and forces groups to look deeper than what we see at face value. (Perception, involvement, motivation)

Boma Bridge

Picture 8Walking in a perfect straight line is difficult enough, but make that straight line a cable and lift it 8m into the air and we are talking about a whole new ball game. Throw in some safety harnesses, a team motivating you and you get yourself a challenge you just cannot miss.

Bridge Building

Picture 9Construct a wooden bridge strong enough to cross a small stream of water. Then use this bridge to cross the stream and get back. This is all easy enough, but building it and setting it up, while only being allowed on one side of the stream. (Planning, trust, team work)

Can of the Best

Picture 10A lateral thinking exercise. Teams have to balance a drum in the air, using specified equipment. Unfortunately it always sounds easier than it is in reality. Great way to work on motivation and involvement. (Motivation, perseverance, mindset towards excellence)

This is a dynamic activity in expression and indicating your self-perception and vision within an environment. Individuals are given clay, which they use to create a sculptor of how the perceive themselves and their roles within their environments. This is then explained by the individuals and all this is then incorporated in a better understanding and planning for the rest of the team.

The game is being played by the pieces on the board. Strategic planning from different points of view as you has never seen before. (Communication, strategic planning, mission and vision, focus)

Group Paint

Picture 14A masterpiece is created by each individual doing his/ her bit. A canvas is divided in between all the participants and each one paints a given part of a greater picture. All pieces of canvas are put together at the end to form one big painting. This is frames and given back to participants.

(Surcharge)

Helium Pole

Picture 16The ultimate activity in group cohesion. Groups are to put a thin pole down on the ground without ever letting go of it, sounds easy doesn’t it? No teams we know of have ever managed this on the first attempt. (Reliability and trust, communication, blame shifting)

The reality of morality and how we perceive it is what this game is all about. Teams are asked to list a group of people according to morality. Naturally our perception of morality differs and this creates an ideal setting to get to know each other a lot better.

Mine Field

Communication at its best. Team members are to guide each other through a grid of mines using a map. However the guide is never to see the actual grid, causing team members to trust fully on their ability to communicate properly. When one or more teams are busy with the same grid at the same time, prioritizing gets a whole new meaning.

Money Game

Become the Donald Trump you knew you had hidden somewhere inside of you. This activity is a combination of some of the above mentioned activities, but monetary value is attached to the outcome of the activities. The aim of the game is to make money. Teams decide what they would like to invest, buy, and gamble with, all to be the team with the most money at the end of this. (Group cohesion, challenge, planning. This activity also gives a nice insight to those members of staff that are not in the position, to wheel and deal with funds, other than their own)

Together with your team members, you are to write an ad for your company, we provide you with the necessary make-up, props, costumes and studio, including a digital video camera. At the end of the time allowed in studio, you provide us with a filmed ad, to be cut onto cd and a copy to be given to all team members. (Fun, creativity, team work)

This indoor/outdoor team building process is one of the newest wonders to reach our shores from the UK.

Nothing like a bit of fun and games to end a long day of conferencing with. These games are all energizing fun activities that take place on your lawn, alongside our pool. (Energizers, fun).

Will you build the next Titanic? Teams are required to plan, design and produce a raft to race with. On completion, the rafts are then put to the test on the lake in a race. This activity is a nice foundation to start talking about entering new territory. (Change management, challenge, and group work)

Red & Green

The ultimate in competition. Groups to split in four smaller groups and compete in a card game, called red and green. An eye opener as to the effect of competition in groups.

Rock Wall Climbing

Here is the chance to prove you can still climb those rocks you “use to when you were younger”. Rock climbing is used to facilitate trust and motivation. This is a rather physical activity that lends itself to an in depth discussion regarding involvement in events where I do not have the ability or motivation, as well as personal capabilities and what my role involves if I do not have the ability.

Scenic Walk

Take a leisurely stroll to the waterfall and taking a swim in the rock pools is something we nowadays only see in romantic movies. At Waterval it is part of life and a lovely way to start a day.

Spider's Web

(Systems: my role in them and the reason for them)

Motivation and support (giving as well as receiving) gets addressed in this activity. (Planning, motivation, support, commitment)

The Spiral

This activity originated in the camel trophy and still challenges groups 9 years after it was first used. By means of several long ropes, groups have to navigate a totem pole through a spiral. This takes more team work and better communication than most thought would ever be necessary in life. (Communication, group cohesion, role clarity, focus)

Teams are to cross a hanging “train bridge” without stepping off. The key is to find a sequence and to repeat until finished, but for some reason none of us ever believe that things can be this easy, and it is then when things get difficult. Great way to get to know fellow team members. (Communication, planning, execution and re-assessment skills).

This activity takes you on a trip through the picturesque Stanford Valley. Cryptic clues, riddles, tasks, maps, compasses, photos and much more, all fits together in an unforgettable experience.

Tripod River Crossing

The grand finale of most team builds hosted at Waterval. Teams are to assemble a working system of transporting team members across a lake. This is easy enough for those who can swim, but not being allowed to touch the water, does move the difficulty rating up a notch or two. (Project development and management, participation and forward planning)

Trust Fall

The ultimate in trust activities. We are very use to being trustworthy, in other words, others can trust us no matter when or where. But trusting others is a completely different story. In this activity team members are to fall backwards into the catching arms of the rest of their team members. Nobody ever carries more than about 7 kg, but still we struggle to trust them. (Trust, personal views).

Tying the Knot

Teams are to make specific knots at appointed marks in a lengthy piece of rope. This is all easy enough, but the fun starts when all team members are tied into the same piece of rope. (Group perception, adaptability, managing skills).

Tyre Puzzle

This activity captures some of the key elements of strategically planning. Teams are to plan their way into shuffling tyres between three stations. Of course there are some rules regarding this shuffling of the tyres, just to keep all involved, thinking and planning to their full capacity. As if that is not enough, this brilliant plan must then be applied and only one opportunity is allowed. (Strategic planning, interpretation and communication, excellence).

Water Woozy's

Trust at its best. Pairs in the team must rely on one another to complete some easy obstacles, which is impossible to complete on your own. (Trust, motivation and personal perception). Have read this before haven’t you, but last time around this was not suspended just above a lake, suddenly climbing off halfway has consequences.

Wim's Bridge

Once again an invention that originated in the camel trophy. Teams are to complete a course by navigating their way over a suspended bridge. Very good activity to get to know fellow team members as well as getting used to structured planning, rather than just structured execution (structured planning, value of trust, personal sacrifice).

Woozy Wires

Trust at its best. Pairs in the team must rely on one another to complete some easy obstacles, which is impossible to complete on your own. (Trust, motivation and personal perception).

Zip Lines

For those who tread where angels fear to tread. This sensation, combines speed and height to give the rider an experience not to be forgotten soon. The slide is a gravity stop, meaning everything that goes up must come down again, once it have slowed down enough. Upon stopping on the slide, you are still suspended about 15m above the ground, to get down from here, we teach you to abseil. As safe as the new Volvo, but man does it make the adrenalin pump.

WARM UPS & ENERGIZERS

A Ka Zo

Guaranteed to get you roaring with laughter. This ice breaker puts everybody on the spot and allows you to let the hair down a bit.

Board Walks
Walking a couple of meters with a couple of friends is one thing, but having all of those friends on the same two planks is something completely different. Adding to an already ridiculous task there is the facilitator, always leaving out a bit of crucial information right to the last minute.

Human Knot

This is where we get rid of the whole idea of personal space. The team get themselves into a human knot, without them even realizing it and then gets the nearly impossible task of untangling that knot. Struggling with a tangle has never been this much fun before.

Circle Chair
The one activity that can only work if everybody does exactly the same thing, at exactly the same time, in exactly the same direction.

Skin The Snake

Training for survival is crucial. In this activity you will be taught how to skin a snake, unfortunately due to snakes being so rare we will be practicing the technique in the group, by turning a whole line of team members inside out without ever letting go of hands.

Awake, alive, alert

Action song guaranteed to get the blood flowing… and the laughter
